A few months ago, I shared with you about my Polycystic Ovary Syndrom, also known as PCOS. Now I have a follow up post to share my current situation.

If you haven’t read my past posts My Life With PCOS and My 7 Days Food Diary – PCOS and Weight Loss, I have shared about my struggles and how I finally got to control it. A few months ago, I decided to stop taking the birth control pill that my doctor wrote to keep my PCOS under control. I just wasn’t feeling good taking it.

Then, shortly I realised that  I was putting on weight quite fast, although I was eating the same and I didn’t know what to do but I knew what it was: PCOS was back! I talked to my doctor and she asked me if I was willing to try another contraceptive… No, no, no, contraceptives give me headache, make me feel sich and change mood every second – I feel like I have multiple personalities sometimes and I wasn’t having it again.

So she gave me the best advice ever. At the moment I was like “yeah, right!” but it really works. Her advice was to work out at least 3 times a week for a minimum of 40min with a minimum target heart rate during exercise of 130 beats per minute.  I found out that, in my case, 40 minutes ain’t enough though. The perfect time for me is a 90min workout 3 times a week. With this I lose  almost 3 pounds a week – even though I ate  a few spoons of Ben&Jerry’s (please, if you are fighting PCOS, don’t do this!!)!

My work out routine is:

40min treadmill

50min cross-trainer

But I also go to the gym riding my bike (20min total).

And how are you guys doing? What are your personal advices to deal with PCOS?

Elle x
