For his new collection, “The icon and iconoclast”, the fashion house Louis Vuitton can count with the support from Karl Lagerfeld, Christian Louboutin, Rei Kawakubo, Cindy Sherman and Marc Newson.
Louis Vuitton’s collaborations with artists, such as Yohji Yamamoto, have become iconic. Now, no one other than Karl Lagerfeld will design the famous Monogram bags and luggage of the label. For the collection ” The Icon and the iconoclasts “, Vice President Delphine Arnault and Creative Director Nicolas Ghesquière have asked six visionaries from the worlds of fashion to reinterpret the classic monogram.
In addition to the Chanel creative director, and shoe designer Christian Louboutin, photographer Cindy Sherman, architect Frank Gehry, product designer Marc Newson and fashion designer Rei Kawakubo will restyle the Monogram Bags.
“We have assembled an amazing group of talents — geniuses, I would say. Each one is among the best in his or her field. The monogram is at the centre of our house, so we celebrate the monogram every day. But we thought this project was really special because the personalities we chose are fascinating and diverse… It’s a really fun project. It’s done with a lot of humour.” Delphine Arnault in an interview with WWD.
The special collection LV is planning for autumn will celebrate the 160th anniversary of the brand. The Limited Edition Collection will be officially release in October and will cost from 2000 to 4000 Euros.
