The 67th annual Cannes Film Festival (from14-25 Mai)is coming to an end and once again  Hollywood put its fanciest dresses and tuxedos to enjoy the festivities of the biggest European film festival.

Grace of Monaco, directed by Olivier Dahan and starring Nicole Kidman as Grace Kelly, opened the festival playing out of competition – the movie has enraged the Monaco Royals, which didn’t attend the official premiere and called the movie a “farce”.

The message podted on the monarchy’s official website says:

Press release: “Grace of Monaco” movie

On the occasion of the upcoming screening of the film “Grace of Monaco” at the opening of the Cannes Festival on 14 May 2014 and its release in theaters, the Prince’s Palace would like to reiterate that this feature film cannot under any circumstances be classified as a biopic.

The trailer appears to be a farce and confirms the totally fictional nature of this film. It reinforces the certainty, left after reading the script, that this production, a page of the Principality’s history, is based on erroneous and dubious historical references. The director and producers refused to take into consideration the many observations made by the Palace because these called into question the entire script and the characters of the film.

The Princely Family does not in any way wish to be associated with this film which reflects no reality and regrets that Its history has been misappropriated for purely commercial purposes.

Tomorrow, at the Closing Ceremony, the winner of the most prestigious awards of the Cannes Film Festival will be announced: Palme d’Or and Camera d’Or (click here for more information). I’m still hoping for Saint Laurent (Bertrand Bonello), however, every day a new favourite appeared to be crowned…

While we are looking forward to knowing who will make the running, one thing we already know: The best and the worst dressed!

Who doesn’t love this time in Cannes? Great movies, good weather, beautiful beaches, celebrities wherever you go and PARTIES everywhere – lot of glitz and glamour!

I love to see the Red Carpet and photocall fashions. I had wondered if the royal family approved of the Grace of Monaco film. It is unfortunate that it does not meet with their approval. Interesting post.

It is unfortunate indeed. I mean, it is just a movie…
