Myla Dalbesio is a stunning 27-years-old, who is Calvin Klein’s new plus-size model for the lingerie campaign. In an interview with ELLE, she told:
“I’m a bigger girl… I’m not the biggest girl on the market but I’m definitelly bigger than all the girls (CalvinKlein) has ever worked with, so that is really intimidating”.
The only problem here, is that Dalbesio – a size 10 or as some sources reported, a size 8 – although she is bigger than a common model, she is not a plus-size either as CK attempts to publicize. A plus size traditionally falls in the 12 and upward, she is a in-betweenie.
I think it’s great that Myla Dalbesio is having success with her body and doesn’t care about the industry pressure to fit into a size 0. But I’d like to know why brands keep trying to label the average body as plus-size…
And as last week and the Victoria’s Secret “Perfect Body” scandal, consumers are not staying silent. Check out some reactions on twitter:
What do you think about it? Is it a step in the right direction or a no go?
