Hot humid summer days are great for beach but not for beauty: it can take you from greasy to creasy, it can cause heat rash and makeup melt down. Thanks to cosmetics industry, the formulas are getting better and the battle for long-lasting makeup is being won. If you want your makeup to stay fresh, the answer is applying a little less and blending the layers for longer.
What to do with my Skin?
Buy only lighter textures. Heavy creams just sit on top of the skin and tend to slide off when the skin sweat. Primers are a good solution as they do many jobs at once, which mean less layers. Oily skin should go with mattifying and pore-minimising formulas, whilst dry skin should opt for moisturising and radiance-boosting primers with SPF.
What is the best foundation?
Look for lightweight and long-lasting formulas. They reduce the amount of powder you will need and they also keep your skin fresh. For extra coverage, follow with very thin layers of any durable concealer.
What about eye makeup?
If the weather is hot, stick to the basics. You will be safe with waterproof mascara and before applying eyeshadows don’t forget to use a smudge-proof primer first and finishing with a light, well-blended layer of powder shadow.
And Blush?
Gel stains are great in humid weather, also waterproof formulas and long-wearing powder.
